Private School Association J&K Organises “Green Campus, Green Talks” Conference at Qaimoh , Kulgam Environmental Responsibility and the Universal Message of Sheikh-ul-Alam Emphasised Qaimoh, Kulgam | 3 October 2026 The Private School Association Jammu & Kashmir (PSAJK) organised a significant and thought-provoking programme titled “Green Campus, Green Talks & Teachings of Sheikh Noor-ud-Din Noorani (Sheikh-ul-Alam)” at Moin Memorial Educational Institute, Kaimu, Kulgam, on 3 October 2026. The programme was conceived with the vision of creating greater environmental consciousness among the younger generation and transforming school-going children into effective “Green Ambassadors” who can carry the message of environmental protection from their classrooms to their homes, communities and society at large. The central objective of the programme was to sensitise students and the wider community about the urgent need to protect the environment, promote cleanliness, practise proper waste segregation and develop sustainable habits. The organisers emphasised that children are among the greatest assets of society and, when properly guided, can become powerful ambassadors of environmental responsibility and positive social change. A distinctive feature of the programme was the integration of environmental awareness with the timeless teachings of Sheikh Noor-ud-Din Noorani (Sheikh-ul-Alam), Rahmatullah Alaih, whose spiritual and philosophical message reflects deep respect for nature, simplicity, compassion, moderation and responsible living. The programme sought to connect these values with contemporary environmental challenges and encourage students to translate the teachings of Sheikh-ul-Alam into practical action. Distinguished Guests and Speakers The programme was graced by several prominent personalities associated with education, private-school leadership, environment and literature. Among the distinguished guests were: Dr. Nisar-ul-Islam Baba Sahib, President, Private School Association Jammu & Kashmir. Mr. Manzoor Ahmad Wannu, Chairman, Environment Committee, Private School Association Jammu & Kashmir. Mr. Majid Hussain Bhat, State Coordinator, Private School Association Jammu & Kashmir. The presence and valuable participation of these eminent personalities added significance, intellectual depth and distinction to the programme. Children as Green Ambassadors Addressing the gathering, the speakers highlighted the importance of involving children directly in environmental initiatives. It was emphasised that environmental protection cannot remain limited to government departments or institutional campaigns; rather, it must become a collective social responsibility. The concept of Green Ambassadors was particularly appreciated as a practical mechanism through which students can promote: Waste segregation at source; Clean and green school campuses; Reduction of plastic and unnecessary waste; Plantation and protection of trees; Clean surroundings and responsible civic behaviour; Awareness among families and local communities; and Sustainable and environmentally responsible lifestyles. The speakers stressed that when a child learns the value of environmental responsibility in school, that message naturally reaches the family and ultimately the wider community. Message of Sheikh-ul-Alam and Environmental Ethics A major focus of the programme was the relevance of the teachings of Sheikh Noor-ud-Din Noorani, popularly known as Sheikh-ul-Alam, to present-day society. The speakers observed that the spiritual heritage of Kashmir contains profound lessons regarding harmony with nature, simplicity of life, compassion and respect for all forms of creation. In this context, the teachings of Sheikh-ul-Alam were presented not merely as historical or literary heritage but as a living philosophy capable of guiding contemporary society towards responsible and sustainable living. The gathering called for greater efforts to introduce these values among the younger generation and to transform the message of Sheikh-ul-Alam into practical initiatives through educational institutions. A Vision Beyond Kashmir The distinguished speakers collectively emphasised that the objectives of Green Campus and Green Talks should not remain confined to a single institution or district. There was a strong call for extending the initiative throughout Jammu & Kashmir and, ultimately, across the country. It was proposed that educational institutions should become centres of environmental awareness where students are encouraged not only to learn about environmental issues but also to participate actively in solving them. The programme therefore emerged as a significant initiative linking education, environmental responsibility, cultural heritage and social consciousness. Collective Commitment The event concluded with a renewed commitment to strengthen environmental awareness through the private-school education network and to encourage schools across the region to adopt the Green Campus concept. The Private School Association J&K reaffirmed its commitment to working with educational institutions, students, teachers, parents, environmental stakeholders and cultural organisations to build a cleaner, greener and more responsible society. The programme at Moin Memorial Educational Institute, Kaimu, thus served as an important platform where the energy of young students, the responsibility of educational institutions, the wisdom of Kashmir's cultural heritage and the urgent need for environmental protection came together under one vision. The message emerging from the programme was clear: “Protecting the environment is not merely a responsibility for the present generation; it is a duty towards the generations yet to come.” Through Green Campus, Green Talks and the practical application of the teachings of Sheikh-ul-Alam, the Private School Association J&K seeks to inspire a sustained movement in which every school, every teacher and every student becomes a partner in building a cleaner, greener and more conscious society. — Private School Association Jammu & Kashmir Add the district president’s welcome role Replace the unsupported direct quotation Reduce repeated environmental messaging
